November 2007 Iridium OpenPort previewed at Iridium Partners’ Conference.
December 2007 Globe Wireless, LLC, a leading maritime IT solution provider to over 550 ship operators and 8,600 ships worldwide, commits to Iridium OpenPort as Charter Distribution Partner.
February 2008 Iridium publicly unveils Iridium OpenPort at the Satellite 2008 conference and exhibition in Washington, D.C. Iridium has a backlog of more than 2,500 units on order from major service providers.
March 2008 Iridium announces that Sperry Marine, a Northrop Grumman Corporation business unit, has been selected as the global support partner for Iridium OpenPort. The agreement with Sperry Marine provides a worldwide network of trained service locations for installing, commissioning, testing and servicing Iridium OpenPort shipboard equipment.
June 2008 Beta Trials Begin.
